Miami – The first same-sex couple legally married in the state of Florida have something new to celebrate.
Catherina Pareto and Karla Arguello announced Feb. 17 that they are pregnant with twins, due in August.
Pareto and Arguello are one of six South Florida same-sex couples who, with Equality Florida Institute, successfully sued for marriage equality.
The couple has been together for 14 years and is already raising a 2-year-old adopted son.
Pareto told the Miami Herald that, “Technically, we had a shotgun wedding. We already knew we were pregnant [when the couple married Jan. 5].”
