Legal, gay marriage does not affect most Floridians

81% of Floridians report that legal, same-sex marriage has either positively affected their lives or has no affected their lives at all.

That’s according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling.

When asked, “Has the legalization of gay marriage in Florida had a positive or negative impact on your life, or has it not had any impact at all?” 14% responded that it’s had a positive impact, 67% said no impact and 20% reported that legal gay marriage has had a negative impact on their lives.

Unfortunately, the poll did not follow-up and ask how gay marriage has negatively impacted those respondents’ lives.

The survey was part of a general policy poll that asked Floridians about a number of topics ranging from Medicaid expansion (about 60% in favor) to Governor Rick Scott’s job performance (46% disapprove) to how the Tampa Bay Devil Rays will do this upcoming season (32% think they’ll make the playoffs but not win the pennant).

Public Policy Polling surveyed 923 Florida voters from March 19-22.
