5 p.m. of Fame
Local Orlando resident Nicholas Clayton is finding social media fame as his tale of getting stuck in a Clearwater gym has gone internet viral.
As he was unwinding at the sauna while listening to music on his headphones, Nicholas came out shortly after 5 p.m. to an empty gym, lights off, doors locked and not one L.A. Fitness employee to be found. The L.A. faux pas happened on August 22nd, and was covered by a local Tampa Bay news station after Nicholas posted the hysterical (yet scary) situation on YouTube. According to his Facebook page, Nicholas called his mother who laughed off the situation and was able to get assistance from another L.A. Fitness, one that happened to stay open past 5 p.m., which simply told him to exit and that he would be OK. Despite the inconvenience, Nicholas told a Tampa Bay ABC news team his biggest concern was he hasn’t heard from L.A. Fitness, and he was surprised employees didn’t check in to see if there was anyone else remaining in the gym.
Tyra’s Career Suicide?
What started as a Twitter feud with RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Tyra Sanchez and a not so happy follower, well, it caused Tyra to lose her weave and type, “Go kill yourself.”
When criticized over this comment, Sanchez responded: “Hate it or love it, I have no sympathy for people that commit suicide. They’re cowards. They give up & give in. Stop Tweeting me about it.” This has prompted an online petition requesting that RuPaul dethrone Tyra Sanchez. As of the time this issue went to press, the online petition had reached over 1,894 signatures out of the goal of 5,000.
Tyra (real name James Ross) was the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Two. She claims that when she signed on for the show, she never intended a role model for the LGBT community. This isn’t the first time Tyra has tarnished the RDR crown, as she has experienced multiple arrests which stemmed from assault to drug possession and even claims of not paying child support. Bye, Tyra.

Loch Haven Park is the home of the Orlando Science Center, the Orlando Repertory Theater, the Orlando Museum of Art and the Shakespeare Theater. Now, it’s also the new home of the Orlando International Fringe Festival’s home office.
Coincidentally enough, Loch Haven Park is also where most of the Fringe happens in late May. With the Fringe takeover of that large green patch of land between OMA and the Rep, it’s usually converted to the Green Lawn of Fabulousness, where Fringe patrons can partake in food truck noms and libations from the beer tent or Stonewall Bar’s Fringe libation station.
Aside from Fringe, that space isn’t fully utilized, and the city of Orlando recognized this and are completely revamping Loch Haven Park. According to Fringe leader George Wallace, who had just finished a walk through with the park and recs dept, there will be a permanent outdoor stage set up which will be utilized for year-round performances including Fringe. The stage is scheduled to be completed by May, as it seems they’re well ahead of schedule already completing the new lighting and sidewalks. Wallace mentioned that the set up for Fringe will be slightly different, but he was really excited for the opportunity of an added stage. There’s even a rumor that Loch Haven will be renamed to Loch Haven Cultural Park, making it the epicenter of Orlando Culture and Fringe shenanigans.
