Darren Criss heads back to Hedwig and the Angry Inch for national tour

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is currently the hottest ticket on Broadway, but in 2002 David Lee starred in a rollicking production at The Parliament House directed by Kenny Howard and featuring Becky Fisher and Sam Singhaus.

Darren Criss, the former Glee star, is coming back to Hedwig and the Angry Inch for the show’s national run this fall.

Criss will only join the cast for the San Francisco and Los Angeles legs of the tour. A new Hedwig will be announced at a later time who will take over for Criss.

Criss was one of several Hedwigs who took over from Neil Patrick Harris on Broadway last year, including Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall and Taye Diggs.

Written by John Cameron Mitchell and composer Stephen Trask, Hedwig is a tale of obsession, glam rock, a botched sex-change operation and a quest for identity. It was a cult hit off-Broadway and made into a 2001 film.
