Impulse Group goes viral with HIV-prevention video featuring drag queens

Impulse Group is getting the word out about HIV prevention methods with a new video featuring the fictitious reality show Real Dragwives of Prevention and starring some of the biggest names in drag.

“With all the prevention options available today, the Real Dragwives of Prevention are here to help you make the choice that’s right for you,” the video’s message reads.

The seven-minute video – which has already amassed more than 16,000 views in four days – stars Trinity Taylor, Gia Gunn, Ongina, Aurora Sexton, Allusia Alusia, Mayhem Miller and Anita Procedure. The short film is directed by Brad Hammer and is written by Dan Hass.

Impulse Group is an international group dedicated to promoting healthier sexual lifestyles among gay men in 18 cities around the world. With support from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, this group of volunteers works to create campaigns, events and online content to reach a new generation of gay men who live in a modern and rapidly evolving world.

Impulse currently has two chapters in the state, one in Orlando and another in South Florida. Florida currently ranks second in the nation among new HIV cases and third in new AIDS cases, with one in four new cases of HIV coming in the 13-24 age group. Orange County is third in the state in the number of HIV and AIDS cases.

“That is why we do it,” Impulse Orlando’s website states. “Impulse Orlando is dedicated to empowering individuals to take charge of their sexual health in an effort to reduce these numbers.”
