“Lego Movie 2” actor Chris Pratt spoke out on Instagram following online accusations from actress Ellen Page, addressing claims that he supports an anti-LGBTQ church.
Pratt had stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to discuss his upcoming film. While there, the actor spoke about his spirituality and mentioned his recent biblical-themed diet was inspired by his pastor from Hillsong Church.
Page took to Twitter following the interview to confront Pratt about his support for Hillsong Church, stating that the religious organization is “infamously anti-LGBTQ.”
Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too? https://t.co/meg8m69FeF

If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed. Being anti LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop. Sending love to all

Chris Pratt addressed Pages concerns on Feb. 11 via Instagram, in the form of an Instagram Story.
“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ’,” Pratt wrote. “Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”
Pratt continued to say that his faith is important to him, “but no church defines me or my life and I am not a spokesman for any church or any group of people.”
He also revealed that despite what the Bible says, his church was understanding and helped him through his divorce, “offering love and support.”
However, Hillsong Church has a history of being anti-LGBTQ and has spoken out against the LGBTQ community in the past.
In a post from 2015, Hillsong’s leader and pastor Brian Houston wrote how the church welcomes all people but “we do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership.”
