One of Elon Musk’s children has petitioned a California court to legally change her gender and name.
The 18-year-old twin is seeking to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson and declare her gender as female, according to court documents from the California Judicial Branch.
Musk’s daughter filed for the changes with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in April. She noted “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form” in the documents.
While additional details are not available, it has been speculated that Musk’s public statements on the trans community could have contributed to his daughter’s reasoning.
In December 2020, Musk tweeted, “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.”

Wilson’s petitioned surname comes from her mother, Justine Wilson. Musk was married to the Canadian author from 2000 to 2008.
The hearing for the name change is set for June 24.
