Equality Florida wants to highlight gay-friendly employers. The civil rights organization launched “Equality Means Business,” a project that highlights Florida employers which demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting diversity and specifically provide protections to LGBT employees.
“We’ve long known that protecting employees from discrimination is the right thing to do,” reported Tobias Packer on EqualityFlorida.org. “Now, more and more research shows that it’s also a smart business decision.”
Equality Florida worked with the Tampa Human Rights Commission and the Tampa City Council to expand the city’s Human Rights Ordinance to include gender identity and expression. As part of that process, they reached out to their corporate partners and asked them to represent the business-side of the argument.
