Tampa Bay: Facebook Flamingo drama!

Alleged Flamingo drama explodes on Facebook
Facebook was alive with drama on April 25 and 26 when stories of an alleged verbal altercation between a resort manager and show performers surfaced on a performer's profile. Kori Stevens posted her version of an expletive-ridden encounter with resort manager David Baker and it appeared that the entire show cast was let go in the process. Her post on Facebook tagged Baker, the resort, other entertainers, Watermark and a slew of others. In response, The Flamingo posted an apology, which was also tagged by many and was flooded with responses. Even a Facebook polling app was created, pitting Team Flamingo vs. Team Kori Stevens. Watermark isn't going to go into details as to what allegedly happened because Baker wasn't available for comment and it was unclear if performance staff was actually fired, according to management. When a manager for the resort was reached by Watermark he did say that the resort's regular Saturday and Sunday female impersonation shows will continue. However, he couldn't say who would perform, since he hadn't spoken with Baker about the details when we contacted him on April 26. Baker's e-mail address returned a note that he was out of the office until later in the week. The manager reached added that while he was on the property during the alleged altercation, he was not in the room when it happened so he wasn't sure on the details. He did say the situation would be addressed. For the storyâ┚¬â€at least the Facebook versionâ┚¬â€search both Stevens' profile and the â┚¬Å”Flamingo Flaâ┚¬Â profile on the social networking site.

Pro Shop Pub hits 35 year mark
It was literally a packed house on April 23 when crowds descended upon the state's â┚¬Å”oldest, continually owned gay bar,â┚¬Â the Pro Shop Pub in Clearwater. Manager Steven Pearson welcomed guests throughout the night and patrons shared stories of the club's historic and iconic past. Several politiciansâ┚¬â€including Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner and St. Petersburg City Coucilman Steve Kornell sent notes congratulating the establishment on its anniversary and Largo Commission candidate Michael Smith and his partner were spotted greeting the crowd. Before the anniversary celebration, the bar was featured in a largeâ┚¬â€and positiveâ┚¬â€St. Petersburg Times article announcing the milestone. Congrats to the staffâ┚¬â€both past and presentâ┚¬â€of the Pro Shop Pub on an amazing 35 years.
