Of the four area teams participating in the Southern Shootout softball tournament, only one came home with a trophy in hand.
The Tampa Panters took second place in the D-division of the tournament, which ran over Easter weekend. The Panthers fell to the Chattanooga Boogie, who took first place in that division. Third place went to the Atlanta Mighty Ducks.
Two Orlando teams competed in the C-division of the tournament. Neither the Orlando Scrappers nor the Orlando Storm placed in that bracket. First place went to the Atlanta Scrappers and second went to the Knoxville Cyclones. The New Orleans Hurricanes placed third in the C-division.
The B-division was also rough on area teams. The Tampa Livewire didn't place in the top three at the Southern Shootout. First place went to the Atlanta Ambush, who edged out second-place finisher, Atlanta Crew. Third place was awarded to the Knoxville Cyclones.
