ORLANDO | LGBTQ organization’s One Orlando Alliance, Equality Florida and QLatinx announced a pop-up celebration at the Walt Disney Amphitheatre at Lake Eola Park June 15 to recognize the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision for LGBTQ workplace rights.

“Let’s celebrate a major victory today as the U.S. Supreme Court rules that the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects LGBTQ+ workers from discrimination!,” the Facebook event states. “This is an informal, pop-up celebration and meant to be a casual way for us all to be together and celebrate community.”

The event advises that “rainbow attire [is] always appropriate.” The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wearing masks and adhering to CDC social distancing guidelines is highly encouraged.

The celebration comes as the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 June 15 that LGBTQ citizens are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
