Central Florida artist Nick Smith goes virtual with online art show

ORLANDO | Local artist Nick Smith is hosting a virtual art show on Facebook Live July 22, starting at 7 p.m., showcasing more than 50 pieces of art that will be available to purchase.

“Well, with the bars still closed and having canceled my first convention appearance I figured it was time to start creating some of my own opportunities,” Smith wrote on Facebook.

Many of the pieces Smith will have for sale are fan art creations he produced intending to sell during his debut at MegaCon, Orlando’s largest pop culture convention centering around comic book, sci-fi, fantasy and gaming. The convention, which was scheduled for Spring 2020, was postponed until March 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have many fan art pieces that I was taking to MegaCon, but since being furloughed I have been working on a lot more original art pieces that will also be available to my virtual show,” Smith says.

Along with highlighting select pieces, Smith will also be giving away $300 worth of gift cards for Ember, Chillers and Latitudes’ Sunday Funday.

The virtual show is presented by Urban Quarters Team, Smith and Kate Maini’s real estate group.

All available pieces, with prices and dimensions, will be posted to Smith’s Facebook art page, Nick Smith Art. You can also check out more pieces Smith is working on by following him on Instagram at Nicksmith.art.
