Vila Rica, Ga. – Police have charged a 34-year-old man with the murder of a 20-year-old gay Jacksonville man after the remains of the victim’s body were discovered in a wooden part of Camden County, Ga., Jan. 30.
Jeremy Christian Pittman was booked into the Duval County jail on the single charge of the murder of Robert Glenn. Pittman’s arrest report lists him as a resident of Jacksonville and his employer as the U.S. Postal Service in St. Marys, Ga.
Glenn was reported missing earlier in the week and he had last been seen on Jan. 16 leaving Metro, an LGBT bar in downtown Jacksonville.
When Hucks and Pittman left the bar, the Jacksonville police report reads, they went to Pittman’s residence where they argued. Hucks wanted to be taken home. Glenn was killed that same night. The murder is not being investigated as a hate crime.
So far, details on how the younger man died have not been released, but an autopsy has been scheduled.
Friends have planned a memorial for Glenn, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at Memorial park in Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. There will be a candlelight vigil and a balloon release in his honor.
Meanwhile, Pittman remains in jail without bond.
