Joy MCC serves 8,000

This holiday season, the Joy Metropolitan Community Church served more people than in the years 2007 and 2008 combined. According to Rev. John Middleton, Joy MCC Senior Pastor, more than 8,000 people were given enough food to feed them for about four days, largely thanks to donations by Central Florida’s LGBT community.

“I can’t begin to tell you how deeply moved I am by the generosity,” said Middleton. “The results of the food drive sponsored by One Orlando and The Center are just amazing.”

Those groups—with the help of several other donors—have been collecting food and toys for about a month. The donations were delivered on Jan. 4.
