Ben & Jerry’s ice cream gets new name to support gay marriage

Ben & Jerry’s is supporting gay rights through ice cream flavor names again.

The Vermont company is renaming its Oh My! Apple Pie ice-cream to “Apple-y Ever After” in the U.K., in support of proposed legalization of same-sex marriage. The carton is redesigned along the same theme, featuring two grooms on top of a wedding cake.

In 2009, Ben & Jerry’s renamed Chubby Hubby to “Hubby Hubby” to celebrate the legalization of gay marriage in Vermont.

The U.K. government is talking this week about how to implement a law that would legalize gay marriage. Ben & Jerry’s leadership is encouraging customers to post to Twitter with the #applyeverafter hashtag, to show support for the legislation.
