Approximately 70 people turned out for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance service held in downtown St. Petersburg Nov. 20.
The annual event memorializes transgender individuals who were killed by acts of transphobia in the United States and around the world.
This year, a candlelight processional walked two blocks down 5th St. N. and ended at St. Petersburg City Hall, where several members of the local transgender community and allies spoke.
