In the midst of preparing for the 2016 Miss Tampa Pride pageant, festival organizers issued a press release announcing the names of the parade’s grand marshals Jan. 13.
Lorraine Langlois, CEO at Metro Wellness and Community Centers, and Russell Rhodes, FOX TV 13 Morning Anchor for “Good Day Tampa Bay,” will be the grand marshals for Tampa Pride 2016.
Along with the grand marshals, Tampa Pride also announced Pam Iorio, former Tampa mayor and now president and CEO of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, and Joe Redner, a human rights activist and local business owner, as the recipients of the “Recognized GLBTA Community Supporter Award.”
With the grand marshals and the award winners named, all we need now is a Miss Tampa Pride 2016 and she will be determined at Hamburger Mary’s in Tampa Jan. 17 during the Miss Tampa Pride Pageant.
The pageant is presented by Hamburger Mary’s Kurt King and will be emceed by Joey Brooks.
Brooks will take the stage at 7:00 P.M. and the pageant will begin at 8:00 P.M.
The pageant contestants (five so far) will compete in four categories: a presentation on Pride, a Q&A, talent and evening gown.
Winner gets $500 along with a crown and other prizes and will be named Miss Tampa Pride 2016. Cash prizes will also be presented to first and second runner ups.
The duties of Miss Tampa 2016 will be to attend all upcoming Tampa Pride events, be in the parade and help plan the next Miss Tampa Pride pageant.
