The Tony Kushner play Angels in America is set to hit the London stage in May 2017, and ex-Spider-Man himself Andrew Garfield will be joining the cast. The play, which won multiple awards including several Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize, examines the AIDS epidemic and what it was to be a gay man in the 1980s.
Garfield will play Prior Walter, a gay man diagnosed with AIDS who believes he is a prophet. He joins Looking’s Russell Tovey and Robin Hood’s Denise Gough in the London production.
Angels in America debuted on Broadway in 1993 and was adapted into an Emmy Award winning HBO miniseries starring Al Pacino and Meryl Streep.
