“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ended in January after four seasons but Netflix is bringing the show back for an interactive choose-your-own-adventure special.
Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), Jacqueline White (Jane Krakowski), and Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane) will all return. It’s unclear if the plot will pick up where the series ended.
“’Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, and now it will be its first interactive comedy event,” executive producers Tina Fey said during the Netflix FYC panel in New York. “Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes.”
Netflix has already experimented with an interactive special for the sci-fi anthology series “Black Mirror.” The special titled “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” allowed viewers to manipulate the plot by making choices for the main character.
The “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” special streams in 2020.
