ORLANDO | Girls in Wonderland, the largest women’s group which holds events during Orlando’s Red Shirt Pride Day weekend, announced on its website that it would be postponing its June events until October.

“Third time’s a charm! After careful consideration and consultation with our host property, the city, our team and many of our long-time loyal patrons we have decided to move Girls In Wonderland to [Oct. 14-17],” event organizers wrote.

Girls In Wonderland’s new 2021 dates will place its events within a week of Orlando’s Come Out With Pride parade and festival Oct. 9 and National Coming Out Day Oct. 11.

The announcement goes on to state that while crowds are “very close to being able to safely socialize and be connected again,” that postponing a few more months is nessasary, mentioning that the group’s primary concern must be the well being of patrons and staff.

“We believe this new date will allow us to provide the complete GIW experience you are used to,” they wrote. “From the bottom of our hearts we THANK YOU for your continued support. It has been an honor to create a safe space for those of us in the LGBTQ community to celebrate ourselves and your enthusiasm fuels our fire year after year. We hope you and your loved ones stay safe as we all work together to overcome this unprecedented time. We look forward to celebrating with each of you in WONDERLAND this October.”

Girls In Wonderland joins GayDayS, Tidal Wave Party and One Magical Weekend in postponing its June events; however, Girls In Wonderland is the only event organizer planning their events for a different month in 2021. GayDayS, Tidal Wave Party and One Magical Weekend announced their events have all been postponed until June 2022.
