SARASOTA | CAN Community Health‘s CANDance returned Sept. 10, honoring the organization’s 30 years of providing specialized medical care.

The popular event, based on “Dancing with the Stars,” has served as a fundraiser for CAN’s work since 1999. It supports HIV research, treatment and prevention while educating the community about HIV and the stigma that surrounds it.

More than 300 of CAN’s supporters attended the gathering, which was hosted by entertainer Brianna Summers and featured performances from professional dancers throughout the evening. Speakers included CAN Community Health Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications Chief Communications Officer Rogelio Capote, President and CEO Dr. Rishi Patel and more, all of whom reflected on CAN’s past, present and future.

Patel unveiled the first annual report in the organization’s history during his address. It noted that CAN’s Patient Assistance Fund, which helps underserved patients with personal and medical expenses, provided $1,261,883.34 in assistance in 2021 and has awarded $2,914.384.24 in 2022.

Watermark was proud to celebrate the work of CAN Community Health and the return of CANDance. View our photos below.
