DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Pride Chamber ventured to the Daytona International Speedway Aug. 26 for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and to participate in the Drive For Diversity NASCAR program. While there, participants were given a VIP tour of the track and got a firsthand look at the progress NASCAR has made to be a more welcoming and inclusive sport.
“This exclusive opportunity for Pride Chamber members was made possible by NASCAR’s PRIDE+ Employee Resource Group,” shared Pride Chamber CEO Daniel Sohn. “Attendees also had the chance to meet and take photos with openly LGBTQ+ NASCAR driver Will Rodgers.”
Rodgers, one of the few openly queer drivers in American motorsports, spent time with members and announced the launch of The Pride Chamber’s new Employee Resource Group Membership that launches Sept. 1.
NASCAR’s Drive For Diversity program “strives to create an inclusive environment in all facets of the NASCAR industry recognizing the value of diversity, which allows us to go faster and farther in our workplaces, at the race track and in the stands.”
The Pride Chamber, which Watermark Publishing Groups is a member, also announced a night “OUT on O-Town,” the chamber’s 2023 Pride in Business Awards & Gala, which will be held at the Hard Rock Café in Orlando Nov. 4.
