Michael Sam will strut his stuff as one of the cast members for the upcoming 20th season of “Dancing With The Stars.” It was announced Feb. 24 Sam will be on the show, paired with professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd.
Sam was the first openly gay drafted NFL player, who was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round but released before the start of the season. He later signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad and was then cut in October 2014.
Sam says he still wishes to pursue a career in the NFL. The ESPN show “Mike & Mike” discussed Sam’s decision to be on DWTS, and how it could possibly affect his NFL career.
Other season 20 contestants include Patti LaBelle, Suzanne Somers and “Hunger Games” actress Willow Shields.
