The Supreme Court released decisions on three cases today (June 20), but none of those decisions were related to marriage equality.
So when will the justices rule on Prop 8 and DOMA?
All we know right now is that the decisions will be issued sometime by the end of the month, so there’s a little more than a week left. Historically, Supreme Court decisions are issued on Mondays and Wednesdays, so experts speculate that they’ll release their marriage equality decisions June 24 or June 27.
SCOTUSblog has a summary of all pending cases, including Hollingsworth v. Perry (Prop 8) and United States v. Windsor (DOMA).
According to the attorneys who run SCOTUSblog, odds are “quite good” that both marriage equality decisions will be issued on the same day. They also say they “expect the Court to add at least one extra decision day next week,” because so many cases are still pending.
