If you’ve ever watched a stubborn pet dig its paws into the dirt and refuse to move forward, then you might want to check your pet’s tag and see whether it reads Kim Davis. The apparent pet to the religious-right backlash to marriage equality and the groups that fuel this ridiculous fire, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, is clinging to God’s love and his “authority” by continuing to refuse the issuance of marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court laughed Davis off with a one-sentence denial of her appeal on the issue, so there was speculation that she would cave. Well, according to our friends at LGBTQ Nation, Davis did just the opposite, hiding in her office behind stylish (ha) blinds at first, and then coming out swinging with the same rhetoric that has captivated audiences nationwide. This one’s really got something! The website reports:
On Tuesday morning, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis’ office denied the licenses to at least two couples. At first, Davis was in her office with the door closed and blinds drawn. But she emerged a few minutes later, telling the couples and the activists gathered there that her office is continuing to deny the licenses “under God’s authority.”
