Billy Eichner will be writing and starring in a new romantic comedy set around a gay couple for a major Hollywood studio, the comedian announced on Twitter Feb. 5.
The yet-to-be-named Universal film will be directed by Nicholas Stoller, best known for hit comedic films “Neighbors” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Judd Apatow is set to produce.
According to Deadline, the film will “center around two men who have commitment problems and are attempting a relationship.”
“Excited, terrified, completely in shock and PROUD as hell to announce this movie,” Eichner wrote on Twitter. “We’re making a big, new romantic comedy for Universal!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!”

Many took to social media to express their own excitement at a new rom-com centered around a same-sex couple. causing Eichner to head back to Twitter and express his gratitude.

Universal has not set a release date for the film.
