LOUD Central Florida launches social media while bringing resources to the community

Latino Outreach and Understanding Division, or LOUD, an affinitive group from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is launching their social media after one year of operating in Central Florida.

The group is better known for their emergency response initiative during Hurricane Ian, where they distributed supplies and hot meals to the Central Florida community; however, they have been slowly building their mark by creating educational events that focus on public health.

Social Media is an indispensable tool for education and outreach, and thanks to a decision from the international board of LOUD, our Central Florida chapter is launching their own social media in an effort to amplify their initiatives that bring resources and education to the community. LOUD is launching the new media with an official Social Media Release Party on May 25. The event is called “Mueve a Tus Tres” and will take place at SAVOY Orlando.

Harnessing the power of entertainment as a tool for outreach, they will have special performances from drag performers Beatrixxx Oddity, Remini Mogul and Aurora Garavani Gucci. The event will also bring monkeypox and flu vaccines, as well as HIV testing to the participants.

“Monkeypox vaccination rates among our queer community continue to be low and it’s a problem that has not gone away despite the public losing interest,” says LOUD board member and creator of the event Jordan Jimenez. “We wanted to create an event that would launch our social media as a resource while bridging attention to monkeypox, and vaccination resources to the community that needs it the most.”

LOUD is led by their president, local artist Carlitos Xavier Diaz, who said that “LOUD is here to bring education and resources to the Latinx community and we are focused on issues ranging from public health to immigration.” The event will take place Thursday, May 25, and will coincide with Latin night at SAVOY. The event starts at 6 p.m. and performances will take place at Ivanhoe 1915 where there will be raffle drawings for a big screen TV and other gift baskets for anyone who gets tested for HIV or vaccinated against monkeypox.
