Epsilon Epsilon Zeta’s Bingo for Handbags Fundraiser a celebration of community, philanthropy

For over six and a half decades, the Epsilon Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has been a beacon of service and empowerment in the Greater Orlando area. Committed to upholding the sorority’s principles, EEZ has been actively involved in supporting the community through a range of innovative programs. EEZ is gearing up for its seventh annual Bingo for Handbags fundraiser — an event that not only captivates the community but also serves as a powerful force for positive change — on April 13.

EEZ has been making a significant impact in the Greater Orlando area through various community initiatives. Their programs cater to the elderly, aid victims of domestic violence, assist children in foster care and provide support to expecting mothers through heartwarming community baby showers. These efforts have become a cornerstone of EEZ’s commitment to creating positive change and fostering a sense of unity within the community.

The Bingo for Handbags fundraiser has become a highly anticipated event, drawing over 200 participants annually from Central Florida and beyond. The event stands out as a unique and exciting opportunity for attendees to compete for coveted designer handbags and other fantastic prizes, all while supporting local causes.

This year’s event promises to be no exception, offering an entertaining and thrilling atmosphere for participants. The allure of winning high-end designer handbags, generously donated by sponsors, creates an air of excitement and friendly competition, making Bingo for Handbags a must-attend event on the Central Florida social calendar.

This year’s Bingo for Handbags is an ’80s vs. ’90s edition and will feature refreshments, entertainment provided by Evan Reeves and a Best Dressed ’80s and ’90s outfit contest.

The true essence of the Bingo for Handbags fundraiser lies in its philanthropic mission. The proceeds from the event will go towards supporting two local nonprofits – The Association to Preserve Eatonville, or PEC, and Embrace Families Community Based Care.

PEC is dedicated to revitalizing Eatonville by promoting and preserving its rich cultural heritage. Eatonville holds historical significance as one of the first all-Black municipalities in the United States and is home to renowned writer Zora Neale Hurston. By supporting PEC, EEZ is contributing to the preservation of cultural identity and fostering a sense of pride within the Eatonville community.

Embrace Families Community Based Care is committed to preventing child abuse, strengthening families and supporting foster children in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. The funds raised by EEZ will directly impact the lives of children and families in need, providing crucial resources and support to create a safer and more nurturing environment.

The Epsilon Epsilon Zeta Chapter’s seventh annual Bingo for Handbags fundraiser exemplifies the sorority’s dedication to service and community upliftment. Beyond the glitz and glamour of the event, the true beauty lies in the positive impact it generates for the Greater Orlando area. By supporting local nonprofits like PEC and Embrace Families Community Based Care, EEZ continues to be a catalyst for change, fostering a sense of unity, pride and support within the community. As attendees gather on April 13 for an evening of fun and philanthropy, they are not just playing bingo for handbags; they are contributing to the betterment of their community and the lives of those who need it most.

Bingo for Handbags: ’80s vs. ’90s edition will be at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs on April 13 from 12-3 p.m. Tickets start at $65 and are available at the Bingo for Handbags’ Eventbrite page.
