Orlando Fringe Review: ‘PeeVira’s Scaravan Singalong: Disco Spirit’

Singing and slaying, “PeeVira’s Scaravan Singalong: Disco Spirit” hits another high note with an award-winning interactive groovy, group karaoke.

“PeeVira’s Scaravan Singalong: Disco Spirit” conjures ‘70s nostalgia with lively games, trivia and singalongs. This site-specific venue is one of the most creative BYOV (bring your own venue), taking place in a U-Haul van outside of the Shakes Theatre. Upon entering the decorated van, audience members are seated on the floor with padded cushions.

This show combines local humor and parody of pop culture, including jabs at a delusional governor. During the show, PeeVira invites audience members to play games like “Ring My ‘70s Bell” and “Knock on My ‘70s Wood.” In these games, participants answer trivia based on ’70s serial killers or iconic movie scenes.

Mesmerized by her disco crystal ball PeeVira falls into a trance that would awaken the music from within. Classis hits like ABBA’s “Momma Mia” and Sylvester’s “Mighty Real” made the singalong very enjoyable.
