YouTube to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month with 5-hour virtual event

YouTube is hosting an LGBTQ Pride Month virtual event to encourage viewers to donate to various LGBTQ organizations from around the world.

“YouTube Pride 2021: You Are Everything,” will stream on YouTube June 25 starting at 3 p.m. ET with five hours of “music, drag dance, fun and so much more.”

“There are no labels that define you, no pronouns that can bind you, no rainbow big enough to capture you, no heels high enough to trip you; because you are not one thing or another, not just an L, G, B, T or Q,” a voiceover states in the YouTube trailer for the event. “You are everything.”

The event will feature several stars as hosts, each leading their own pride party hour on their channel during the event, with Olly Alexander and  Mawaan Rizwan starting at 3 p.m. ET, Daniel Howell starting at 4 p.m. ET, Elton John and David Furnish starting at 5 p.m. ET, Trixie Mattel starting at 6 p.m. ET and Demi Lovato starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Each pride party will have its own mix of musical performances and special guests, which will include Tyler Oakley, Munroe Bergdorf, Denali Foxx, Elle of the Mills, Monet X Change, Gigi Gorgeous, Patrick Starr, Miss Peppermint and Kim Chi.

The worldwide event, which is sponsored by Levi’s and State Farm in the U.S., will celebrate the LGBTQ community and encourage viewers to donate to LGBTQ organizations that include the Elton John AIDS Foundation, The Trevor Project and akt.

YouTube has also launched the #GiveWithPride challenge in an effort to raise $500,000 for The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. If the goal of $250,000 is reached by the end of June, YouTube will dollar match the donation bringing the total donation to $500,000.
