It may still be the dog days of summer, but Sarasota Pride is planning ahead for its first-ever outdoor event on Oct. 30. The organization will have two fundraising dances in the month of August—one for women and one for me.
According to SarasotaPride.org the third “Out to Dance” women’s event on Saturday, Aug. 7, will begin at 8 p.m. at the Bobby Jones Country Club at 1000 Circus Blvd. The fundraiser requires a $10 donation at the door for entry and reservations are recommended, considering the popularity and success of the first two all-women’s dances. Jewelry by Lisa will once again have a booth at the dance and most of her inventory will be available for purchase.
Even though the women have had two previous events, that doesn’t mean Sarasota Pride has forgotten about the many gay men living in Sarasota. The first-ever Men’s Dance, called Hot Summer Nights, has been planned for Saturday, Aug. 14 within Mulligan’s Grill, which is also part of the Bobby Jones Golf Club at 1000 Circus Blvd.
That dance is strictly for men and begins at 8 p.m.
DJ Joseph will spin at Hot Summer Nights and a special appearance by the Sarasota Queer Eye Team is scheduled. The men’s dance is also $10 at the door and both dances should wrap around midnight.
