The Center Orlando postpones Dining Out For Life, Harvey Milk Breakfast fundraisers

ORLANDO | The LGBT+ Center Orlando announced April 13 that its two largest annual fundraisers will be postponed until later in the summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dining Out For Life will be moved from its original April 30 date to Aug. 27. The Center’s 8th annual Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast and Awards will shift from May 20 to July 22.

Dining Out For Life is an annual dining advocacy and fundraising event raising money for community-based organizations serving people living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS. Funds raised by participating Central Florida restaurants go directly to help fund The Center. Donations will consist of 25-50% of the participating restaurant’s daily sales for that day.

When the event takes place in August, The Center will have restaurants in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties participating; including Bites & Bubbles, The Hammered Lamb, Hungry Pants, Kissimmee Diner, Matadoe Tacos & Tapas, MX Taco and Tako Cheena.

The Center’s signature event, the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast will be awarding community leaders for the eighth year when it returns in July.

Taking place at the Sheraton Orlando North in Maitland, the breakfast will honor Congressman Darren Soto with the LGBT Ally Award, Our Fund Foundation’s Marco Quiroga with the Trailblazer Orlando Award, Downtown Business Association’s Jeremy Lanier with the Trailblazer Kissimmee Award, state Rep. Anna V. Eskamani with the Champion of Equality Award, Savoy Orlando with the Harvey Milk Business Award and the Orlando Gay Chorus with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
