In the past 48 hours, GLAAD Media-award winning singer Troye Sivan unveiled a new track, accompanying music video and announced the release of a new EP.

The single “Easy” was released by the Aussie crooner July 15. The song features “80s-twinged production and Sivan’s classic laid-back delivery,” according to a review of the song by Billboard. Lyrically, the song finds Sivan emoting from a place of romantic distress.

“‘Easy’ follows the star as he examines a crumbling relationship, begging his lover to give their relationship a second chance,” Billboard wrote. “‘This house is on fire / Burning the tears right off my face,’ he sings. ‘What the hell did we do? / Tell me we’ll make it through.’”

“Easy” is the second single to be released from Sivan’s upcoming EP “In A Dream,” which the singer also announced July 15. The EP, set to drop Aug. 21, marks Sivan’s first major release since his sophomore album “Bloom” in 2018.

Described as a “six song ‘concept EP,’” this body of work reflects an intense emotional catharsis that Sivan underwent in his personal life.

“A story that’s still unfolding, this small collection of songs explores an emotional roller coaster period in my life when the feelings and thoughts were most shockingly fresh,” he said. “Revisiting these songs and moments is tough, but I’m proud of this music and excited to have it out in the world.”

The rawness of this music is evident in Sivan’s initial response to releasing it on a commercial level. Leading up to the release of “Easy,” Sivan shared with Spotify the sense of discomfort he was experiencing.

“I’ve never felt this way before a release,” he told the streaming platform. “I’m uncomfortable and feel a bit squeamish, but I know that I needed to write this song.”

Sivan’s fans have been enjoying the singer’s latest release. Twitter user Yujin_dyuseu gave “Easy” a perfect score, rating the song “10/10,” while notrxz_ created fan art based on the imagery from the song’s music video.

“Take Yourself Home,” the first single from “In A Dream” released in April, peaked at No.13 on the ARIA’s Australian Artist Singles Chart.

“In A Dream” is currently available for pre-order across various retailers. Watch the music video for “Easy” below.
