The Headdress Ball raised a record-setting $329,000 for the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida, and an award was created to honor Maggie King, the organizations development director for the past dozen years. And the Orange County School Board moved one step closer to protecting staff, teachers and students based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Come Out With Pride expands to 11 days in its eighth year as a successful fall event. In addition to an expo with 110 vendors, the parade and fireworks, this year’s COWP includes a film festival and a big post-event party at the Parliament House featuring pop and LGBT icon Debbie Gibson.

Once again, Headress Ball was a big success for the Hope and Help Center. The event, held at the Hilton Orlando on Saturday, Sept. 22, drew well-dressed movers-and-shakers from Central Florida’s LGBT-friendly community. With an Oz-like â┚¬Å”Twistedâ┚¬Â theme, many were clad in green. The point: raise plenty of green for the area’s biggest AIDS Service Organization.
