ORLANDO | Winter Park Playhouse announced July 13 that its 2020 shows will be moved to 2021, making its next season’s start date Jan. 22.

“Based on the latest information provided by the CDC, local government, industry leaders and the professional actors’ union, we believe the safest and most responsible path is to begin the new Series in January of 2021,” Winter Park Playhouse said in a statement.

The season will consist of the same six shows announced earlier this year, with “Book of Merman” and “Christmas My Way” — originally schedule for the fall — moving to Sept. 24-Oct. 17, 2021 and Nov. 12-Dec. 18, 2021, respectively. The remainder of the season — ‘A Grand Night for Singing,” “Respect: A Musical Journey of Women,” “Five Course Love” and “Crazy for Gershwin” — will keep its original performance dates.

“The health and safety of our patrons, artists and staff is paramount, and we want to ensure a safe environment and wonderful theatre experience when we reopen,” the statement reads. “The Playhouse Board of Directors and staff continue to monitor the Covid-19 crisis and make difficult but necessary adjustments to the schedule.”

Anyone who is an Annual 6-Show Series Subscriber or You-Pick-3 Subscriber, will be mailed a letter in August with your new series dates and seat confirmation. If you purchased single show tickets to either of the shows rescheduled, an email will be sent this month with your updated ticket information.
