ORLANDO | onePULSE Foundation will hold a free virtual screening of the short film “Crush” tonight, starting at 7 p.m., followed by a panel discussion regarding the award-winning short film.

The event is a part of onePULSE’s Conversation Starters, events that showcase films about the LGBTQ community, which itself is a part of the nonprofit organization’s broader Conversation Series. This series is sponsored by JPMorgan Chase & Co., CITY Furniture and Orlando Utilities Commission.

“Crush” takes place on prom night in the South Bronx. Michael is in for an evening of horror, hilarity and hope when deciding whether to “come out” to his high school crush or let him walk into the sunset.

“This film explores the complications of love when you’re gay and attracted to a friend, but don’t know if they are straight or gay,” said Dr. Earl Mowatt, vice president of education for onePULSE Foundation. “The panel discussion will focus on how finding love shouldn’t be complicated.”

Mowatt will co-facilitate the panel discussion with onePULSE’s Mark Joachim. The panel will consist of Brandon Kennedy, Andres Acosta, Alyx Maldonado and Siara Tirado .

Dominic Colon’s screenplay for his short film “CRUSH”, won the HBO/New York International Film Festival Short Film Script Competition.
